In the Nursing Living Learning Community (LLC), you will build a solid foundation of knowledge and skills during this first step of your journey to become a competent and compassionate nurse.

Benefits Of The Nursing LLC

Placing like-minded students together in a community where they are living and learning together increases student retention and success. In the Nursing LLC, scholars participate in the following activities:

  • Study groups and peer mentors from the School of Nursing
  • Block course scheduling
  • Simulation lab
  • Team building and social activities
  • Networking opportunities with School of Nursing upper-division students, staff, faculty and alumni

 


Ready to Apply?

This LLC is restricted to first-year students who have an interest in pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Students with a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and 500 on the SAT Math or 21 on the ACT Math are encouraged to apply.

Students with dual enrollment credits or any college credits that are transferring must have a college GPA of 3.0 in addition to the high school GPA requirements above.


Requirements


To apply, students must write a one-page (max: one page, min: 250 words) essay that focuses on the following questions:

  1. Why are you interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and what are your plans once you earn your nursing degree?
  2. What steps are you willing to take as a college student to ensure that you reach your career goals?
  3. Why are you interested in participating in the School of Nursing LLC?
  4. The importance of science, technology and math in nursing.

 

When you are ready to submit your one-page essay click on the "School of Nursing" link in the FAMU Housing Application Portal and upload your document
