Honors

The Honors Living-Learning Community, formerly known as the Provost's Leadership Living-Learning Community (PL3C), is for first-year (freshman) students who have been awarded a University Scholarship or accepted into the University Honors Program. All majors are welcome to participate.

"The Honors LLC also afforded me opportunities that were only available to our LLC. I was able to study aboard in Spain during the Summer A session with very minimum cost ($250). That experience provided me with personal and professional growth that one can only experience abroad. Studying abroad forced me beyond my comfort zone which ultimately allowed me to broaden my horizons and become a more well-rounded individual!"

Participants attend monthly colloquia that provide exclusive opportunities to connect with successful leaders from the public, private and non-profit sectors. Invited guests are dynamic leaders that focus on:

  • Strategic Conversations with successful alumni that provide clarity of purpose, direction, and vision.
  • Emergent Thinking that highlights the importance of alignment of value-added experiences to personal and professional goals.
  • Building Global Relationships and Experiences that connect scholars to successful leaders nationally and internationally.
"My experience studying abroad in Salamanca, Spain solidified my desire to become a diplomat by letting me escape my comfort zone. In only 3 weeks, I saw just how exciting, intriguing, and different it is to live in another country and my experience there communicated to me that TWB (Traveling While Black) is not only amazing, but it is a necessity! Now, I am proud to announce that as a 2019 Rangel Fellow, I will serve as a Foreign Service Officer for our nation, and I have the Honors LLC & this amazing study abroad experience to thank for that."
