What is the Digital Rattler Initiative?

Florida A&M University has collaborated with Apple to create the Digital Rattler Initiative (DRI), a program that provides undergraduate degree-seeking students and faculty wiith equal access to technology and digital tools through a common learning platform. By providing constant and seemless access to affordable digital tools for quality teaching and learning, the DRI seeks to leverage technology to enhance the educational experience and to strengthen academic programs.

What's included?

All eligible incoming students will receive an iPad Kit that includes an Apple iPaid Air, Apple Pencil, and Smart Keyboard Folio. The iPad Kit also comes with coverage for equipment damage provided by AppleCare+ and access to digital apps needed to succeed at Florida A&M University. When you graduate, you can keep your iPad. If you leave prior to graduation, you can return your device or purchase it at a prorated price.

Who is eligible?

The Digital Rattler Initiative is designed to support incoming students as they begin their academic journey at FAMU. Students eligible to participate include:

  • First-Year Students enrolled in SLS 1101 (College Success) and ISC 1058 (Success in STEM).
  • Living Learning Community (LLC) participants, with the exception of students in the Engineering LLC.

These groups were selected to ensure that students have the tools, resources, and community support needed to thrive academically and personally during their first year. For more information, please email ofs@famu.edu.
