Ashley Davis serves as the Emergency Management Director and Assistant Vice President
for Florida A&M University (FAMU) with the Division of Student Affairs. In 2021, he
joined FAMU after fifteen years in Florida disaster preparedness and response. Ashley
has served with the State Emergency Response Team of Florida during hurricanes, floods,
tornadoes, oil spills, wildfires, and pandemics. He has responded or deployed to over
60 disasters, including 37 major declared disasters that impacted Florida or the nation.
In the summer of 2004, Hurricane Ivan impacted his home, job, and schooling and marked
the beginning of his career in emergency management. Ashley lost his house and job
due to Hurricane Ivan's impacts. Ashley transferred to Florida State University to
study Emergency Management and Homeland Security at the undergraduate and graduate
levels. During the Fall semester of 2022, Ashley began his doctoral studies at FAMU
in Educational Leadership.
