Florida A&M University (FAMU) is committed to maintaining a safe and informed campus environment. As part of our layered emergency communications strategy, FAMU uses the AlertUs Desktop Notification System. This high-visibility desktop alerting tool delivers immediate, attention-grabbing emergency notifications directly to university-issued computers.
AlertUs operates in coordination with FAMU ALERT (Everbridge) to ensure critical emergency information reaches the campus community quickly and effectively.
Alertus is a network-based desktop notification platform that transforms University-managed computers into emergency communication endpoints. When an emergency alert is issued through FAMU ALERT (Everbridge), AlertUs simultaneously displays a full-screen, high-priority message on eligible campus computers.
FAMU uses a layered emergency communications strategy designed to maximize message delivery across multiple technologies and conditions. These desktop alerts are in addition to SMS, email, and mobile app notifications and are not intended to replace them. Instead, AlertUs provides an added layer of visibility for individuals who may not have immediate access to their mobile device during a time-sensitive event.
