Membership Selection Disclaimer
Florida A&M University, Efferson Student Union & Activities, and Fraternity & Sorority Life do not select members on behalf of individual fraternities, sororities, or groups. Membership selection is conducted by each organization in accordance with its national/international policies, chapter procedures, and constitutions/ bylaws, and applicable University requirements.
FAMU's role is to establish University eligibility requirements, verify student eligibility, authorize intake periods, and provide oversight for compliance with University policies and applicable law.
Questions regarding an organization's membership criteria or selection decision should be directed to the appropriate chapter leadership, chapter advisor, and/or regional or national/international organization. Questions regarding FAMU eligibility, Greek Assembly, University verification, or the approved intake process should be directed to Fraternity & Sorority Life.
Hazing Has No Place at FAMU
All membership activities must be conducted through an approved, authorized membership process.
Hazing is prohibited by Florida law, FAMU Regulation 2.028, University policy, and the policies of national/international fraternities and sororities.
Students should never be asked or expected to participate in unauthorized activities as a condition of membership.
After You Join
Membership does not end at initiation.
Newly initiated members become part of the larger FAMU Fraternity & Sorority Life community and are expected to uphold University, council, chapter, and national/international standards.
New members also participate in New Member Academy (NMA), FAMU's leadership and development experience for newly initiated fraternity and sorority members. NMA brings members from across the FSL community together around leadership, scholarship, service, accountability, risk management, campus engagement, and responsible membership.
