Dr. Naim Jabbour is an educator, researcher, and designer originally from Lebanon
whose academic and professional work bridges architectural design, environmental performance,
sustainability, technology, and culture. Prior to joining Florida A&M University,
he served on the architecture faculty at Pennsylvania College of Technology (an affiliate
of Penn Sate University) for seventeen years, where he also served as Assistant Dean
of the School of Construction & Design. His professional experience includes work
as a Project Executive and Designer with PBK and as Principal Designer of Atelier
Naim Jabbour. He earned a Doctor of Design and Master of Science in Architecture from
Carnegie Mellon University, a Master of Liberal Arts in Sustainability from Harvard
University, and a Bachelor of Architecture from Louisiana State University. His teaching
and research philosophy centers on the integration of design and performance, exploring
architecture as an active and iterative process capable of strengthening relationships
among people, place, culture, and the environment.

Dr. Jabbour's research investigates the integration of building performance, environmental data, climate-responsive strategies, and architectural
design. His work explores how performance analysis can move beyond post-design evaluation
to become a generative component of the design process.
A significant component of his research examines energy and environmental challenges
in Lebanon, particularly the potential for residential near-zero-energy buildings (nZEB) to
provide greater energy autonomy, resilience, environmental equity, and financial stability
for Lebanese households. His doctorate research earned him an honorable mention at
the Carnegie Mellon Energy Research Poster Competition.
