About Me


Dr. Sonja L. Allen is a board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and Assistant Professor at Florida A&M University School of Nursing. She brings over 20 years of combined experience in healthcare and higher education. Dr. Allen is the Founder of Well Woman and has a passion for advancing health equity, particularly in the areas of minority women’s health and pregnancy outcomes.

Her global perspective has been shaped through academic and advisory work abroad in South Africa and Australia, where she supported nursing students exploring international healthcare systems. At FAMU, she serves as the Women's Health Specialty Track Coordinator, WHNP student advisor, and MSN Intensives Coordinator.

  • Self-care, boundary setting, and authenticity among women in healthcare

She is actively involved in scholarly initiatives focused on reducing disparities in maternal health and promoting holistic care practices for underserved populations.
