About Me

I am originally from Pontiac, Michigan, and I went to the University of Michigan with a major in Communication. My goal was to become a television news reporter and I did just that. I was a reporter for the ABC Affiliate in Montgomery, a morning show anchor in Meridian, Mississippi, and a reporter and fill-in anchor at WTVC in Chattanooga. I also had my own show on the PBS Affiliate in Chattanooga, "Tennessee Insider," it was a public affairs show that featured a round table of guests to discuss local, regional and national issues. I transitioned to higher education and earned my master's degree at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and my doctoral degree at the University of Tennessee. I am a Montgomery Bus Boycott scholar, as both of my grandmothers (both domestics) participated in the 381-day boycott. It's the reason I chose the Montgomery Bus Boycott as my dissertation.
