Professor Deborah Thigpen is a distinguished public relations specialist and the current PR professor at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU). Her remarkable career in public relations began with Up With People Incorporated (UWP), where she served as a publicist for events spanning 39 states, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and London, including high-profile occasions like the Super Bowl.

Graduating from Bowling Green State University in 1978 with a bachelor's degree in Journalism, Dr. Thigpen went on to achieve several milestones. Notably, she was honored as the National Minority Small Business Person of the Year by the US Small Business Association and earned an M.A. in Management in 2005 and a D.M. in 2011 from the University of Phoenix.

Dr. Thigpen's entrepreneurial spirit led her to establish Thigpen & Associates Incorporated in 1988, later rebranded as Thigpen & Associates Public Relations in 2006. In 2009, her company received national recognition as the top business by DiversityBusiness.com.

Beyond her successful ventures, Dr. Thigpen has shared her wealth of knowledge at Texas Southern University, Florida A&M University (where she currently teaches), and served as the Sports Information Director at Prairie View A&M University. A diamond life member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Dr. Thigpen finds joy in international travel, photography, horseback riding, and camping during her leisure time.
