About Me


Dr. Bettye A. Grable has been an Associate Professor in the Florida A&M University School of Journalism & Graphic Communication for 18 years. She has taught journalism graduate courses, PR courses and Mass Media introduction courses, as well as public relations research and strategies courses.

Dr. Grable served as a professor at Boston University from Aug. 2005- June 2006. She also taught media writing courses at LSU while completing her PhD degree.

Dr. Grable served as Interim Dean of the FAMU School of Journalism & Graphic Communication between March 2020 to Oct. 2021.

Her 20-year career in PR/PR-related jobs include her experience as a Journal Writer for the Florida House of Representatives Clerk's office and as a radio actuality reporter for the House Communication office. Grable's career also included positions serving as a television public affairs program host, director of public information for a community college, promotions director for a radio station in Sarasota, Fla.

Dr. Grable earned her doctorate in Mass Communication and Public Affairs in August 2005 at The LSU Manship School of Mass Communication in Baton Rouge, La. She earned a master's degree at Florida A&M University in April of 2002. Dr. Grable earned her undergraduate degree in Journalism from the University of Florida in 1978.
