About Me

Angela G. Ferguson, J.D., B.S.N., brings more than 35 years of combined legal and medical experience to her role as Professor of Law at Florida A&M University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Florida and her Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law. She is admitted to the Florida Bar and maintains an active license as a registered nurse.

Professor Ferguson’s legal career spans complex litigation, and client counseling in the areas of personal injury, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, product liability, and workers’ compensation. She founded and has managed the Law Offices of Angela G. Ferguson, Esq., in Orlando since 2001, following a decade of practice with leading Florida law firms, including Wooten, Honeywell & Kest, P.A., where she was elevated to partner in 1996. Her professional accomplishments include co-authoring a successful appellate brief before Florida’s First District Court of Appeal and litigating hundreds of cases to favorable resolution.

In addition to her legal practice, Professor Ferguson draws on her nursing background to provide expertise in cases involving medical records, healthcare standards, and expert testimony. This interdisciplinary foundation allows her to integrate legal and medical analysis in both practice and teaching.

Professor Ferguson has been an active member of the legal community, serving on the Florida Bar’s Grievance Committee, Civil Trial Lawyers Committee, and Young Lawyers Committee. She has also held leadership and board positions with the Orlando Metropolitan Urban League, Central Florida Legal Services, and the Paul C. Perkins Bar Association.

At Florida A&M University, Professor Ferguson focuses on developing students’ legal research, writing, and advocacy skills. She is dedicated to preparing future lawyers to navigate the complexities of law and public policy with analytical rigor, ethical grounding, and professional excellence.
