About Me

Rashid currently serves as an Associate Professor of Biology, College of Science & Technology at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU). He received the Ph.D. in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology from University of California, Riverside (UCR), Master of Science Degree in Biology from California State University – Dominguez Hill (CSU-DH), and Bachelor of Science Degree in Medicine and Surgery from Ein – Shams University – Faculty of Medicine, Egypt. He served in many institutions including hospitals, blood banks, non-profit organizations before joining our prestigious university FAMU. His extensive knowledge and expertise in science, proteomics, genetics, and biotechnology have significantly assisted his productiveness of comprehensive research, teaching, extension/outreach, and public service programs at the FAMU and Leon County at large. Since joining FAMU, he has taught several undergraduate courses in biology and microbiology and assisted in developing new curriculum related to biology. He has served as a Chair and a member in the committee of graduate students and trained them in cancer research, molecular biology, and biotechnology. He is committed to educating, training, and recruiting the students at the graduate, undergraduate, high school, and professional levels, preparing them to apply their knowledge, critical thinking skills, and creativity. Further, he was instrumental in developing an Agreement on research collaboration between the Florida A&M University, college of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences and the University of Khartoum. Sudan college of pharmacy. He invested considerable time in serving University, college, department, and community. His research interests include breast cancer research and brain cancer research with special concentration in Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC), and Glioblastoma Multiform Brain Cancer (GBM).
