About Me

My research focuses on uncovering the mechanisms that drive inflammation and tumor development, as well as those that promote the progression of primary carcinomas to metastatic disease. Ultimately, my goal is to identify new therapeutic targets and strategies that can improve outcomes for patients. I am particularly interested in the molecular and microbial factors that shape intestinal health and disease, including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and colorectal cancer. My current work explores how plant extracts and phytochemicals influence the survival and activity of intestinal microbes, offering insights into how natural compounds can impact gut health and disease progression. Beyond human health, I also investigate the roles of microbes within broader ecosystems, such as aquaponic systems. At the heart of my work is a deep commitment to mentoring and training the next generation of scientists, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and scientific excellence.
