About Me

Dr. Edward Jones is a native of North Carolina. After teaching at Winston-Salem State University, he joined Harris Corporation in Palm Bay, FL as a software engineer. During his 13 years with Harris he taught as adjunct faculty at multiple institutions, and directed master's theses at Florida Tech. After hosting a team of FAMU CIS students during a visit to Harris, he was offered a two-year visiting appointment at FAMU in 1994. After four years, he joined FAMU as a tenure track faculty member.

Dr. Jones is passionate about higher education in an HBCU setting. His professional life has been enriched by the many lasting relationships with colleagues and mostly students. He has enjoyed the support of his own family--two sons and daughter, nine grandchildren, and God's best gift, my wife, Lillie.
