About Me

Dr. Bishnu Regmi is an impassioned educator and scholar dedicated to fostering a deep love and understanding of chemical sciences. With over a decade of experience in academia, Dr. Regmi brings enthusiasm, expertise, and a commitment to excellence to his role as an Assistant Professor at FAMU. He obtained his PhD in Chemistry from Louisiana State University and Master's in Biochemistry from Utah State University. He has significant research, teaching, and mentoring experience. His research is focused on the development of sensors and sensor arrays using low-melting organic salts as sensing materials. He has substantial skills and expertise in the design, synthesis, purification, and characterization of room temperature ionic liquids and related low-melting organic salts. In addition, he considerable training and experience in utilizing different analytical techniques, including gas chromatography, fluorescence spectroscopy, quartz crystal microbalance, and fiber optic arrays. He has received several awards in recognition of his dedication in teaching and research. These awards include Teaching Innovation Award (FAMU 2022), Digital Learning Initiative's Most Valuable Professor (FAMU, 2021); Outstanding Reviewer for RSC Advances in 2020 (The Royal Society of Chemistry, 2021); Distinguished Dissertation Award (LSU College of Science, 2015); and Kiran Allam International Award (for outstanding teaching and research) (LSU Chemistry Department, 2014).
