About Me


Dr. Annie Gainous Thompson is an assistant professor of the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice, College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities. She teaches various courses with emphasis on criminal justice and law enforcement nexuses.

Dr. Thompson has an extensive background in criminal justice and law enforcement, with a focus on crime and intelligence analysis, criminal intelligence, crime mapping and geographical information systems (GIS), records and data management, predictive policing, data and statistical analysis, link and matrix analysis, and offender profiles.

In addition to experience with the forenamed areas, Dr. Thompson is certified to teach sworn and non-sworn personnel as well as analysts in the crime and intelligence arenas. She also actively mentors new and upcoming analysts in the field. As a college professor, she teaches and mentors students in undergraduate studies at FAMU and graduate studies at other higher learning institutions.
