Eligibility
The FAMU Study Abroad Photo Contest is sponsored by USAC and WorldStrides, and is open to FAMU students who studied abroad during the 2024-25 academic year. For the purposes of the competition “Study Abroad" includes study abroad programs that occurred during the Fall semester, Spring semester, Spring break, or Summer program including international internships and practicums. It does not include vacation travel abroad.
Subject Matter
Your photo should capture an experience or observation abroad. It is not limited to your study abroad location or program site. (For example a student who studied abroad in Madrid, Spain might visit Paris, France, or Rome, Italy during a free weekend.) There are no other restrictions on subject, theme or style. Pictures that capture local scenes, phenomena and/or people without feeling like picture postcard monuments are preferred. (for example, an excellent photo of the Eiffel Tower or the Coliseum could win a prize, but the quality of execution of the photo will be the judges chief criterion.). Photos that show the context and life of a place are usually more interesting than tourist hot spots, generic landscapes or empty squares and plazas.
Submission Process & Deadline
If you are eligible you may submit up to three photos per study abroad experience. Please use the following link to submit your photos: Study abroad photo contest. Please submit your photos on or before September 1, 2025. The judges will review the photos and choose the top three. The first place winner will win $100, the second place winner will win $50, and the third place winner will win $25. The winners will be announced during a Returned Study Abroad Student Reception (RSVP to this Event HERE) to be held during the Fall semester on September 30, 2025 at 4pm located at Polkinghorne Village Game Day Room, Tallahassee, FL 32307.
