Famu Online Certification Program
Congratulations to all FAMULY faculty and staff for successfully completing the FAMU Faculty Certification for Teaching Online training course. Your participation acknowledges a commitment to providing high quality instruction to our students. Your certification is valid for 3 years, and at that time you are encouraged to request enrollment into the re-certification course through the Office of Instructional Technology/FAMU Online.

Faculty Online Quality Commitment
In keeping with the State of Florida Board of Governors online course quality mandate, new courses that are being added as fully online are assigned an instructional designer at FAMU Online to assist the faculty member in achieving state quality standards for online learning.
Faculty teaching online for the first time at FAMU are directed to complete the Teaching Online Orientation training or the Teaching Online Pedagogy and Practice training. Registration forms and applicable faculty stipend information can be found on the Professional Development page of the FAMU Online website.

Participate in comprehensive online teaching workshops and complete required modules
Work with assigned instructional designer to develop your online course
FAMU High Quality Course Badge
Courses that meet FAMU's rigorous quality standards receive the prestigious High Quality Course Badge, demonstrating excellence in online course design and delivery.
This badge signifies that your course:
- Meets Florida Board of Governors quality standards
- Incorporates evidence-based online pedagogy
- Provides regular and substantive interaction
- Demonstrates accessibility compliance
- Includes clear learning outcomes and assessments
Online Program Quality Commitment
Program Chairs wishing to add online delivery to an existing program must complete an Intent Form for Online Modality and an Online Program Commitment Form to begin the process for approval of online program modality. Please contact famuonline@famu.edu for assistance and to inquire about the forms.

FAMU Online Definitions
Fully Online Program
A fully online program is defined as being offered 100 percent online with no on-campus commitment for students. In some cases, exam proctoring may be required at an approved testing center proximal to the student's location. All classes in an online program are hosted in FAMU's online platform—Canvas. Courses in an online program are ideally offered asynchronously, but may require select online synchronous attendance where appropriate. FAMU online courses require regular and substantive interaction between students and faculty in accordance with US Department of Education Policy.
