We are here to assist you on your educational journey as you transition from your current educational institution to FAMU.
Our staff provides assistance and oversight to include: recruitment, transfer admissions advising, transfer orientation, curriculum maps, direction for campus resources, priority registration and scholarships for eligible students. Transfer Student Orientation is a one-day information based program designed to ensure you have completed all the onboarding steps before you get advised.

Students who transfer to FAMU prior to earning their Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree may request to have their A.A. degree awarded to them from their previous Florida College System institution. Students must meet all lower level/general education requirements, have completed at least 30 credits at FAMU and have a 2.0 gpa or higher.  To request to have the A.A. degree awarded, students may contact transfer@famu.edu with their name, student id number, and the Florida College System institution they previously attended.

FAMU currently has articulation agreements with twenty-two (22) Florida College System institutions throughout Florida. These curriculum maps outline prerequisites and requirements, providing invaluable assistance as you navigate your transfer journey.

Transfer Graduate Highlights

Lauren, a transfer student from Columbus State University, has made a lasting impact on the hill through her leadership and dedication. During her time at FAMU, she became the 1st Chevron Case Study Winner, served as a Transfer Peer Mentor, and held the position of 2nd Vice President for the Sister Sister Initiative. She also proudly served as the 2024–2025 Miss June 16th. Standing firmly on Ecclesiastes 9:11, Lauren believes that coming to FAMU was all about God’s perfect timing and the opportunity for success. She is a proud Spring 2026 graduate of the School of Business and Industry.

Graduate transfer student Dervin Altenor  

Dervin, a transfer student from Miami Dade College, has made a meaningful impact at FAMU through leadership, service, and excellence in the cybersecurity field. As a Transfer Peer Mentor, he has continuously encouraged and uplifted the transfer student community while also pursuing personal and professional growth. Standing on the quote, “Just because you could be doing more, doesn’t mean you aren’t doing enough,” Dervin leads with compassion, dignity, and experience. A proud Spring 2026 graduate of the College of Science and Technology, he plans to take his talents into the professional world, continuing to inspire and lead wherever he goes.

Our office supports all transfer students through peer mentoring, academic support initiatives and programming, and our Transfer Living Learning Community (LLC). Our goal is to ensure transfer students have a smooth transition to the FAMUly and make the most of their time on the hill.
