Delante Clarke spoke to the largest cohort of the Graduate Feeders Scholars Program on April 29.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.— Delante Clarke is a graduating political science student with a focus on international affairs and global security at Florida A&M University (FAMU). He has received eight fully funded offers to attend graduate school next fall after being accepted into FAMU’s Graduate Feeder Scholars Program earlier this year.
The program is a direct pipeline for high-achieving FAMU students to pursue graduate-level degrees at nationally renowned universities at no cost. Clarke is a native of Harlem, New York and will graduate from FAMU this May. He has chosen the University of Central Florida to pursue a dual degree in public affairs (Ph.D.) and public administration (MPA).
“I am very excited to start my journey toward becoming a professor and government consultant for cyber policy and artificial intelligence,” Clarke said. “I am grateful to the FAMU Graduate Feeder Scholars Program for the opportunity to further my studies for free.”
The School of Graduate Studies and Research (SGSR) inducted 130 students into the Graduate Feeder Scholars Program—the largest cohort in the program’s 37-year history. During the ceremony on April 29, Clarke encouraged inductees to take advantage of the opportunities available at FAMU to support their academic success and career goals.
All Graduate Feeder Scholars must complete six assignments, two professional development workshops, three curriculum-based workshops, and maintain a 3.0 GPA.
“The Graduate Feeder Scholars Program is truly a testament that ‘you can get anywhere from FAMU,’” said Dean Michael Abazinge, Ph.D., SGSR. “Our institutional partners from around the nation actively recruit FAMU students for their graduate programs due to the caliber of education they receive at the No. 1 Public HBCU.”]
Today, scholars can choose from among 25 partner institutions, including three recent additions—University of Memphis, Erikson Institute, and the University of Tennessee Knoxville.
