Music Education Program
Welcome to the Music Teacher Education Program
 at Florida A&M University

The Music Teacher Education Undergraduate Program is designed to prepare a student to teach Music Education related courses in instrumental, vocal and orchestral music; specifically at the middle and high school levels. This program will fulfill all course requirements for Florida teacher certification in Music Education, grades K-12

Admission Requirements: Admission to the Music Teacher Education Undergraduate Program must be obtained from the Office of Admissions and Records.

Undergraduate Admission Requirements for Teacher Education, The applicant must:

*Have a grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 or higher for the general education component of undergraduate studies; or have completed the requirements for a baccalaureate degree with a minimum grade point average of 2.50 or higher;

*Have a FAMU cumulative grade point average of 2.50 or higher;

*Have evidence of meeting the existing College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) score requirements (exemptions are not applicable for teacher education majors);

*Met all Gordon Rule requirements

*Have a grade of “C” or better in the required courses taken as part of the General Education Preparation Program;

*Have successfully completed a pre-admission interview by the College of Education Admissions Committee; and

*Have successfully passed a criminal background investigation.
