Minor in Political Science

Political science is the study of politics and government at the local, state, federal, and international levels. 

About This Program

This program focuses on the theory and practice of public policies, political behavior, world views, class systems, foreign relations, law, conflict, and war.

Students will examine the United States and other nations and regions of the world from new perspectives using both humanistic outlooks and scientific reasoning.

The Minor in Political Science requires 18 semester hours to complete.


Students wishing to minor in Political Science must (18) must complete eighteen (18) semester hours in one of the following offered fields:

1) Political Science,
2) Public Administration,
3) Public Management,
4) Emergency Management,
5) Urban studies and economic development, or
6) International relations


A minor in political science must also include the following courses:


All students — majors and minors must have at least a 2.0 GPA overall to qualify for graduation with a degree in any of the programs.

All courses other than natural sciences must be passed with a grade of “C” or better.
