Minor in English

English is the study of grammar and language, research and writing, and various written texts including novels, poetry, plays, and other bodies of works from around the world.

About This Program

Students minoring in either English literature or English writing will study the field of English as produced throughout the course of history. They will gain new perspectives and develop an evolved understanding of  intensive writing and research methods, critical theory, composition and rhetoric, and literary history and culture.

The Minor in English requires 18 semester hours to complete.


Students have the option of choosing between two tracks: 

- Minor in English with a concentration in literature; or 
- Minor in English with a concentration in writing


All courses  must be passed with a grade of “C” or better. 


Total Credit Hours for Degree: 18 hrs
