Student Support Services is a TRIO Program federally funded by the US Department of Education and, housed in the School of General Studies at Florida A&M University. It is designed to supply supportive academic and personal services to a limited number of low-income and/or first-generation college students. The goal of TRIO/SSS is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants and help students make the transition from one level of higher education to the next. The program provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with basic college requirements, and serves to motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education.
TRIO/Student Support Services will provide services designed to help the participants graduate from college.
Academic advisement; tutoring and academic seminars in English, math, and science; CLAST workshops; financial aid workshops; counseling; mentoring; computer and internet access; TRIO Scholars Association; technology seminar; average grant aid amount of $1,200.00 to selected eligible first-year and second-year participants.
