Wellness Center

Health Education and Prevention Speakers The SHS Health Educator is available to speak to student groups, residence halls and classes on health and wellness topics.  The SHS Wellness Center has brochures available on numerous health topics and has a condom distribution program.  Call 850-599-3777 for more information.  If you are requesting a program or materials please schedule at least 2 weeks in advance of the requested date for the event. Peer Health Advocates Program
Peer educators are students leaders from all areas of discpline.  Participating students are trained in health promotion and outreach to help educate FAMU students to reduce their risk of HIV infection, substance abuse prevention, violence prevention and general health education principles.  Peer educators are available for classroom or residence hall presentation and to meet with student organizations.  This program is supported by Student Health Services.

SHS Food Pantry and Clothing Closet:
Student Health Services understands the need for healthy food. Further, we understand the economic strand on some of our students. Therefore, in order to care for our students in a wholistic manner we have a small food pantry and clothing closet located in our main office. We have also partnered with Farm Share Quincy to offer fresh foods and other diary items weekly and with Panera Bread to offer pastry and bread weekly.

Satellite Locations:

FAMU Health Services now has 3 locations across campus to better serve you. Services available at satellite locations: Free RAPID HIV testing, health education and promotion programs, pamphlets.
1. FAMU Village - Rm 171 ~ Wednesday evenings or by appointment
2. Campus Recreation Center  - 2nd floor ~ Thursday evenings

If you are having an medical emergency, call 911. If you need to be seen by a physician or healthcare provider, you will need to come to Student Health Services during normal operating hours.

3. Foote - Hilyer location ~ Daily 8 am - 4:30pm
Services available : Primary Care, free Rapid HIV testing, physicals, etc.
