Computer Center

The Computer Center is located in Room 302 in the Ware-Rhaney Building. The Center is for School of Nursing students only, and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  There are currently 36 Pentium 4 PCs with Windows XP or Windows Vista, productivity programs, and nursing-specific software. Each workstation has high-speed Internet access. There is also a high-speed laser printer and print server, which are managed via a Windows 2003 domain server. A network account is necessary in order to log in to the computers and access network resources.

The primary purpose of the School of Nursing Computer Center is to provide students with the opportunity to integrate computers into the educational process. Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI), Microsoft Office, specialized nursing software, and online testing are examples of the resources used to introduce students to information technology in nursing practice. Information technology concepts and skills have been included in all levels of the curriculum to prepare undergraduate and graduate students for the health care environment.

In order to create an environment in which technology improves and supports teaching, learning, and research, the School of Nursing provides a wide variety of services to faculty and students. These services include network administration, instructional support, web development, equipment setup, and on-site troubleshooting and repair.
