Henderson 204 Gore Education Complex-A Telephone #: (850) 599-3805 Fax#: (850-599-3706 The mission of the School of General Studies is to significantly improve the academic success of entering first-time-in-college students and to assist them with declaring a major in a timely manner. In addition to the primary focus on the academic success of students, the School of General Studies focuses on the retention of students, declaration of majors, high instructional programs, and accessibility to student academic support programs that promote student participation and integration into the University. The School of General Studies, affectionately known as "the Heartbeat of the University," is the temporary home of undecided and undeclared majors. Additionally, the School of General Studies is responsible for the Undergraduate Experience, the administration of the College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) and the College Preparatory State Exit Examination, the Student Academic Support System (SASS), College Preparatory monitoring and instruction, the School of General Studies Academic Study Skills Center, the Trio Programs, and the AmeriCorps HBCU Mentoring Alliance – FAMU.
