Today, we celebrate the nearly $1 million in renovations made to the Robert “Pete” Griffin Track Complex, making it a NCAA regulation facility which will host many track meets in the very near future.
Some of the track's enhanced features include:
• New and thicker rubber track surfaces
• New pole vault and high jump pits
• New long and triple jump lanes
• A new shot put landing area
• A new discus cage
• NCAA/state high school regulation striping and line markers
• NCAA regulation slopes
• Upgraded restrooms
• New sand pits
• New water fountains
These eco-friendly enhancements were made to better serve the needs of FAMU athletes, aid in the recruitment of top student athletes, and attract regional and national events. The Design Team: Dave Fronczak and John Hightower of Barnett Fronczak Barlowe Architects and the Construction Managers: Vanessa Anderson and Scott Dull of LLT Building Corp.
