Program Curriculum

The Educational Leadership program seeks to prepare candidates with skills and competencies that result in excellent leaders of schools and other educational entities. The Master of Education degree sequence in Educational Leadership requires a minimum of thirty-nine (39) semester hours of graduate coursework in areas required by the state of Florida for certification in school administration. The curriculum focuses on the ten educational leadership standards and associated criteria reflected in statutory requirements of section 1012.986 Florida Statutes and revisions to Chapter 6A-5.081 F.A.C.

The Master of Science degree requires a written thesis. Candidates enroll in EDA 5973 Master’s Thesis (3-6 additional credit hours).

TSL 5700 is required for candidates to satisfy state mandated ESOL/ELL.

Candidates who did not graduate from a teacher education program must have a total of six (6) semester hours of curriculum and six (6) semester hours of foundation courses.
If a candidate’s academic transcript reflects six (6) total hours of curriculum and six (6) total hours of foundation, then twenty-four (24) semester hours are required for certification in Educational Leadership.
If a candidate’s academic transcript does not reflect six (6) total hours of curriculum and six (6) total hours of foundation, then thrity-six (36) semester hours are required for certification in Educational Leadership.
