Agricultural Environmental Chemist

Ping has 30+ years research experience in agricultural and environmental chemistry. He has devised many original methods for agricultural and ecological research that are used by scientists worldwide including isotopic method to quantify mean residence times and sizes of active and stable organic carbon pools in soils, diffusion methods for quantifying reduced inorganic sulfur species, mesh-pad method for quantifying soil erosion in field-scale experiments and multi-element scanning thermal analysis for characterization of complex substances. His research interests include wetland ecology, carbon and nutrient cycle, soil sulfur chemistry and characterization of aerosols and biochar. His research has been supported by competitive grants from USDA, EPA and NSF.
