Carmen Cummings MartinGreetings Rattlers:

How sweet it is to return to the Hill! The time was right for me to come home. I am deeply honored and humbled to be a part of the enthusiastic team assembled by our esteemed 10th President, Dr. James. H. Ammons.

There are a number of important tasks topping my priority list as your new Executive Director of Alumni Affairs at Florida A&M University. I am happy to report the wheels are already in motion to strengthen lines of communication between our office and our loyal alums. Our dedicated staff members are working diligently to implement new procedures aimed at bolstering membership and raising the bar in the area of accountability. We are also polishing and disseminating positive messages to support the President in honing the image of our legendary and beloved, FAMU!

I would like to offer my heartfelt wishes to every Rattler Alumnus for your support. I especially want to convey my deepest gratitude to our distinguished National Alumni Association President, Dr. Alvin Bryant, the Executive Board, Regional Vice Presidents, Student National Alumni Association, Chapter Presidents and all chapter members for your encouragement upon my arrival to Florida A&M University.

I look forward with great anticipation to continue laying the foundation toward a long and productive working relationship with our alumni. I am open to listen and embrace ideas that will underscore the President’s mission of reclaiming the legacy of this historic institution.

Every day, Dr. Ammons and his impressive leadership team keep proving the critics wrong. His new strides in the area of fiscal accountability keep rendering successes toward the financial health of this great university. With God’s guidance he keeps turning trials into triumphs, even against the odds.

Together Rattlers we can rekindle the spirit, pride, passion and unity that are critical elements in the rich tradition that have enveloped and sustained FAMU for 120 years. Rattlers, I sincerely believe that, “in due season we will reap if we faint not.” Rattlers, this is OUR season. The time is right. Can you feel it? I sure can!

Yours in Service,

Carmen Cummings
