NAME our NEW ADDITION | Naming Contest '22
Here’s your chance to NAME our NEW ADDITION! On October 18, FAMU acquired the 118-bed Light House at Brooklyn Yard apartment complex, 636 Eugenia St., on the northwest campus perimeter. The $12.65 million property includes 1.3 acres of vacant land to be developed for retail and housing.
In terms of the new name for the property, that’s up to you. University Housing will be hosting a naming competition along with Student Government Association (SGA) and Residence Hall Association (RHA), to determine a new name that embodies Rattler living & pride. This competition will begin in late Nov, allowing students, faculty, staff, and alums to submit suggestions. During a vetting and voting process comprised of on/off-campus partners, the name will be announced in early January at the 2023 MLK Convocation.
Rules:
- Complete the interest form below in including all of the required information. One entry per person is allowed.
- To enter, you must be a verified current FAMU: Student, alum, faculty or staff member.
- Submissions will start Sunday, November 27, 2022, at 12 p.m. - Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 12 p.m. EST.
- Winners will be determined by a committee made up of FAMU students, alum, faculty or staff members. Voting closes at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2023.
- The winner will be announced at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation in Friday, January 13, 2023.
Prizes
- The grand prize winner will receive a FAMU prize package worth over $500 to include a $100 gift card and the name of this person will be memorialized with a plaque near the property sign displaying the new name of this facility.
- Additionally, swag bag prizes will be provided to top 5 finishers.
