Capstone / Senior Portfolio
Every student is challenged with a senior course requirement. All students must pass ART 4915 Colloquium in Art and ART 4928 Advanced Workshop – Topic: Senior Portfolio. In addition, ART 4928: Advanced Workshop: Design & Composition is required at least one semester prior to the last semester of residence.
Every student is required to present 10-12 artworks for an exit portfolio exhibition during the last semester of residence in the Visual Arts area. The presentation of this body of work should reflect (4) four years of academic and practical study in fine arts which is subject to faculty review and recommendations; in addition, the work must be suitable for hanging or other accepted form of professional quality presentation. In addition, a resume, artist statement and brief summary of each work should be organized in a Powerpoint presentation for review.
Every student is required to curate an exhibition from start to finish. This will include but not limited to: developing call to artists, all digital advertisement, graphic design, fundraising, securing a juror, receipt of artwork, installation of selected artwork, labels, program(s), invitations, and marketing.
Every student is required to present an academic paper (minimum 5 typed pages – double spaced) and conduct an oral presentation (with slides or other visuals) during the last semester of residence in the Visual Arts area. The written and oral presentation should reflect (4) four years of academic and practical study, particularly in art history which is subject to faculty review and recommendations. In addition, the paper and presentation should be organized in a Powerpoint presentation for review along with a one bound copy for department records.
