FLORIDA A&M UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF STUDENT ACTIVITIES
Greetings from the Florida A&M University Homecoming 2008 Parade Committee. It is time once again to celebrate another year of fellowship and unity at Florida A & M University. We will be celebrating Homecoming Week, October 26th thru November 1st. The Annual Homecoming Parade will be held on November 1st beginning at the intersection of Macomb and Georgia Streets and will kick-off at 8 a.m., with staging of all entries to begin at 6:00 a.m.
This year's parade will give three awards for overall conformity to the theme; Originality, Creativity, Color Eye Appeal, General Eye Appeal, and Craftsmanship based on the Homecoming Theme – “Preserving the Legacy of Excellence in A New Era.” Only those participants that pay the required entry fee are eligible to compete for the monetary awards. The Judging Committee will determine the final placement of entries, and their decision is final.
Monetary Awards
1st Place $500
2nd Place $300
3rd Place $200
Each of the following are considered one (1) entry for the parade:
Marching Band (Free)
Float and primary towing vehicle ($100)
Walking elements - maximum of 25 people ($100)
Car/Van/Motorcycle elements - maximum of four vehicles ($150)
(FAMU student clubs/organizations are required to pay a registration fee of $25 per group. However, if the club/organization wishes to compete for the monetary awards, they are required to pay appropriate fee listed).
Deadline for submission of your application, with applicable fee (money order) made payable to FAMU AROTC will be October 24, 2008. (NO PERSONAL CHECKS).
The Homecoming application must be returned to this office completed with the required proof of liability insurance for motorized entries and the required registration fee enclosed.

Floats, cars, and trucks must be appropriately decorated. At a minimum, entries will have a sign located on the front and sides of the vehicle identifying its activity. Vehicles that are not appropriately decorated WILL NOT be allowed to participate in the parade.
