TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida A&M University (FAMU) Essential Theatre 2008-2009 season offers wholesome storytelling at its best.
The season opens with Lynn Nottage’s Crumbs from the Table of Joy. This provocative comic melodrama exploring social and racial issues in the 1950s is scheduled for October 15 through October 19. This heartfelt story involves the recently widowed Godfrey Crump who has moved with his two teenaged daughters from Florida to a Brooklyn brownstone where religious, cultural, political, racial and family values are all under stress.
Show times are 8 p.m. on October 15, 16, 17, and 18. Performances are also available at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, and Sunday, October 19. Ticket prices for Crumbs from the Table of Joy are $12 for the general public; $9 for senior citizens; and $7 for students. Admission is free for FAMU students with valid ID.
