Tallahassee, FL. – Florida A&M University (FAMU) President James H. Ammons’ administration recognized the “Most Valuable Employees” (MVE) during the halftime show at the FAMU versus Norfolk State University. The most valuable faculty, staff and administrator were selected by employees and honored with the University’s MVE Award.
FAMU employees were given the opportunity to nominate an administrator and a faculty and staff member based an employee’s service and commitment to FAMU.
The “Most Valuable Employees” winners are as follows:
Willie T. Williams, an English and literature professor for over 40 years at FAMU, was honored as the most valuable faculty member. A commentary from a colleague wrote “Students get so much more from her experience and wealth of knowledge when they are assigned to one of her uplifting and inspirational classes.”
Colleen Washington, a senior purchasing agent, was named the most valuable staff member. Her peers said that she exudes a positive and professional attitude, and truly understands the meaning of teamwork.
Dean Henry Lewis III of the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (COPPS) was honored as the most valuable administrator. Lewis’ colleagues described him as dedicated, hard working, professional, fair, honest and a die-hard Rattler.
“Each of these employees is more than deserving of this recognition,” said FAMU President James H. Ammons. “I’m pleased to have this opportunity to present them with the Most Valuable Employee award and honored to have people like them at FAMU.”
