About The School of Business and Industry

The Florida A&M University (FAMU) School of Business and Industry (SBI), under the leadership of the founding dean, Dr. Sybil Collins Mobley, was established in 1974 to prepare talented students from around the nation and the world to not only survive, but to thrive in a competitive global market place.  Nearly four decades later, the outstanding record of SBI’s achievements is known worldwide, especially among corporate executives and recruiters who frequently visit SBI to observe and review its academic, professional development and internship programs as well as to recruit SBI students.   Tom Peters, in his bestselling book, A Passion for Excellence, described SBI as “the Marine corps of business schools: pride, poise, excellence!”

Successful SBI alumni are not only found in businesses and industries around the globe, they are found in professions ranging from law to teaching; at every level of government, including local, state and federal governmental agencies; and in diverse entrepreneurial ventures.  Wherever leadership is essential, multimillion-dollar deals are to be made, and acts of service to humanity are to be rendered, SBI’s distinguished alumni, the SBI FORCE, is there!

Vital to SBI’s success is an extraordinary faculty, dedicated to the practical application of business disciplines and the creation of business and industry scholarship through research.  They are driven to make their classrooms intense, interactive learning environments that will produce graduates who are critical thinkers and analytical problem solvers unafraid to challenge their potential and change the world.  SBI’s outstanding administrative leadership team is comprised of its dean, associate dean, program directors, department chairs, and office support staff.  SBI’s goal is “customer satisfaction.”

We welcome our prospective students and their “VIPs” (very important parents), our long standing and new corporate partners, our outstanding alumni, and all other interested parties to our web site   We want you to be able to quickly locate answers to your questions on this site, but we also would be delighted to have you join us in Tallahassee, Florida for an on-campus visit.
