FAMU SBI Community Mourns the Loss of Professor Clyde Ashley, Ph.D.
The Florida A&M University community is mourning the loss of Clyde Ashley, Ph.D., a professor of professional leadership development and economics in the School of Business and Industry (SBI). Dr. Ashley passed Wednesday afternoon, May 2, on campus in his SBI office. He had been employed with the University since 1987. “We extend sincere condolences to his family and will keep them in our prayers,” said FAMU President Larry Robinson, Ph.D.

Alumni Spotlight: Steve Philistin
SBI Alumni Steve Philistin was nominated and selected to receive the Diversity & Inclusion award the last two out of the three years in the area of Leading the way.
"What does Leading the Way stand for: Illustrates personal commitment to global ONE Ford leadership. This person makes a significant contribution to the team by fostering excellence, working together inclusively, and role modeling Ford values in all interactions while holding people accountable for delivering results across the global enterprise."
Mr. Philistin was also selected to be a part of the team that will grace the cover of the Finance recruiting brochure. Alumni Spotlight: Roshell Rosemond Rinkins
Liquid Courage Cosmetics, a Silicon Valley-based cosmetics company, was recently selected as a featured brand in the first-time Market at Macy’s retail opportunity. The company is bringing its popular highly pigmented lipsticks to the entertainment capital of the world at the Macy’s department store in the Las Vegas Fashion Show Mall (3200 S. Las Vegas Blvd). The brand will be available in the Market @ Macy’s first-floor pop-up section from April 8 through May 5. Read More >>
Annual Heritage Celebration
The School of Business and Industry (SBI) will honor 63 graduating seniors and MBA graduate candidates on Friday, March 30, 2018, at its Annual Heritage Celebration.
Each year, the School of Business and Industry honors its graduating undergraduate and graduate students for their achievement in completing their academic program and for earning the privilege of becoming members of the SBI Force. SBI Force is a family of SBI alumni dedicated to preserving SBI’s heritage and protecting SBI’s brand around the globe.
The invitation-only event will be held at the Tallahassee DoubleTree Downtown located at 101 South Adams Street.

FAMU SBI Dean Friday-Stroud Appointed Interim VP of Advancement, Cotton Announces Resignation
Vice President of University Advancement George Cotton has resigned his position, effective today, January 5, 2018. Cotton also served as executive director of the FAMU Foundation.
President Larry Robinson, Ph.D., has appointed School of Business and Industry Dean Shawnta Friday-Stroud as interim vice president of University Advancement. The FAMU alumna has served as the permanent dean of FAMU’s nationally recognized business school since February 2010. Additionally, she served as one of the co-chairs of the Strategic Planning Workgroup that helped develop the University’s five-year strategic plan, “FAMU Rising.”
Friday-Stroud earned her bachelor's degree and master’s degree in business administration from SBI and a doctoral degree in business administration from Florida International University. Hudson Nwakanma, Ph.D., chair of SBI’s Department of Management and Marketing will serve as SBI’s interim dean during the transition.
FAMU School of Business and Industry Freshmen earns Coveted internship with U.S Open
Current Florida A&M University (FAMU) student, Livi S. Grant, was recently featured in the Golfer's Digest. She attributes her successes to behavioral skills learned in the Professional Leadership Development classes taken in FAMU's School of Business and Industry. These skills played a key factor in her ability to effectively network and secure her first internship experience.

Mobley-Thompson Creativity and Innovation Summer Academy
Florida A&M University will be hosting the Inaugural Mobley-Thompson Creativity and Innovation Summer Academy. The program, sponsored by funding from the School of Business and Industry's Interdisciplinary Center for Creativity and Innovation (ICCI), is available for students in grades 3 through grades 12, and will consist of separate theme-based weeks designed to introduce students to various topics centered around technology and entrepreneurship.
