Florida A&M University Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (FAMU SACS) Office
Welcome to Florida A&M University’s SACS website!
As we continue the tradition of Excellence with Caring, we appreciate the cooperation of administrative officers, staff, faculty members, students, trustees, and other stakeholders that have contributed to the Compliance Certification Document, the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) entitled “Enhancing Performance in Critical Thinking,” and the Focused Report as a part of our reaffirmation of accreditation process. Florida A&M University has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) since 1935 and we look forward to successfully undergoing a rigorous review process to maintain our accreditation through reaffirmation in 2009.
What does accreditation by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) mean? According to the Association, it (1) “signifies that the institution has a mission appropriate to higher education, (2) has resources, programs, and services sufficient to accomplish and sustain that mission, and (3) maintains clearly specified educational objectives that are consistent with its mission and appropriate to the degrees it offers, and that indicate whether it is successful in achieving its stated goals.”
This site provides access to various processes and documentation necessary for the University’s reaffirmation of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
