Technology Enhancement of Learning Outcomes and Program Objectives

The School of Nursing utilizes technology to enhance student learning outcomes. All classrooms are equipped with Internet-ready networked PC's and 19-inch monitors. A smart classroom is located on the first floor of the Ware-Rhaney Building . This room houses an Internet-ready PC, mounted LCD projector and speakers, automatic screen, wireless microphone, document reader and VCR. Other equipment available for faculty and student use includes portable TV/VCR combos, laptops, LCD projectors, overhead projectors and slide projectors. A media room is located in Room 201 and is complete with an Internet-ready networked PC with a 19 inch monitor and a mounted TV/VCR.  Students also have the opportunity to get hands-on experience with patient simulators in the School of Nursing's Simulation Hospital, with realistic human simulators for adult, maternity, neonatal, and pediatric patient care scenarios.

The School of Nursing enhances traditional learning outcomes through technology by utilizing various aspects of the technology. Students are also encouraged to make use of current and a wide variety of research through online library databases. In addition, students use computerized programs that provide comprehensive rationales, test-taking strategies, and references in order to learn new concepts and for review. This type of technology provides students with immediate, detailed analysis of their performance. Student use web-based and online testing programs. All areas of the curriculum make the most of technology in meeting the objectives of the school.
