Mission and PhilosophyThe primary mission of New Beginnings is to provide a safe, healthy, nurturing environment in which young children between the ages of 2 1/2 and 5 can develop emotionally, socially, physically, and intellectually. Our goal is to provide a culturally rich, creative, active and stimulating environment for young children to grow and learn.
We believe in the value of young children. We believe that all children should be treated with dignity and respect. They deserve to be loved, nurtured and provided the necessary skills that will enable them to think independently, act intelligently, and live effectively in our ever changing society.
The preschoolers of today will be the planners, creators, and leaders of tomorrow. Therefore, during their most formative years every effort should be made to provide quality experiences that will challenge their existing capabilities, broaden current insights, and cause them to thirst for the limitless body of knowledge that surrounds them.
The New Beginnings Educational Research Center for Child Development (ERCCD) was established to:
1. Provide quality childcare services for students/parents and the FAMU community.
2. Provide an established on-site facility for internship training and practical
experiences for students that attend the university.
3. Provide the necessary population for research projects conducted by faculty
and graduate students from various academic departments.
4. Serve as a model facility for the surrounding communities.
