Samuel Harrison Coleman 

Samuel H. Coleman Memorial Library, the University's main library, is named for Samuel Harrison Coleman, a graduate of Florida A&M College.

Coleman served as a letter carrier in the city of Tallahassee for 39 years. He held top ranking positions in the Elks, Masons, and Knights of Pythians. He was well known for his service as originator and co-founder of the Tallahassee Civic League. He served as executive committee member of Suwannee River Division Boy Scouts of America. Coleman was organizer and founder of the Emancipation Celebration Association of Leon County and served as its president for thirty years. He also served as superintendent of Bethel A.M.E. Sunday School for twenty-five years.

Samuel H. Coleman faithfully served Florida A&M University as general alumni president for 14 years.
