Message From the Director
Dear FAMU Housing Residents:
On behalf of the staff of the Office of University Housing, I welcome you to Florida A&M University and our residential life community. As members of our residential community, we certainly want you to understand our mission and core values that our professional staff members supports daily. First, the Department’s mission is to promote a safe, clean, service-oriented, efficiently managed, nurturing living learning environment that is conducive to students’ academic pursuits and personal growth while fostering a sense of community, civic responsibility, and an appreciation for diversity. Second, our core values are collegiality, excellence, caring, integrity, diversity, and respect.
Our on campus living facilities and staff provide students an opportunity to achieve academic success, develop meaningful personal relationships, and exposure to various diverse cultural and social experiences that prepares the student to become productive community members and leaders. Through our commitment and service, we endeavor to provide an atmosphere and environment that allow students to learn and effectively pursue their academic and personal goals.
According to some researchers, studies illustrate students that live on campus earn higher grades, are more involved in activities, and have a higher graduation rate than those that chose to live off campus. Those achievements are accomplished by attending programs, meeting and interacting with others, and becoming an active member of your building community.
We look forward to your arrival with great enthusiasm and excitement.
Dr. Jennifer Wilder, Director
