FAMU-Haiti Relief EffortsFlorida A&M University has more than 81 students enrolled during the spring 2010 semester from Haiti and many more students who are American citizens whose families still reside in the country.
Concerned about its Caribbean neighbor, the university has formed a Haiti Relief Committee co-chaired by Dean of Students Henry Kirby and Jeremy Levitt, associate dean and Director of the Center for International Law and Justice at the FAMU College of Law in Orlando. This committee has established a FAMU-Haiti Relief Fund through the FAMU Foundation, Inc. and will coordinate the university’s Haiti Relief effort. This committee will ensure that the money donated for this relief effort will aid those who are in need, whether provided to meet the needs of our students and their families or for necessities and medical supplies for the victims of Haiti.
