Special collaborative environmental research initiative funded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation

Twenty-four students will be chosen to work with mentors on an extended research program, culminating in a capstone project in spring 2009 or 2010. Participating students will travel to Lewis & Clark College in spring 2008 for a weekend workshop in order to meet each other and discuss shared research objectives, then in spring 2010 will present their results at a public conference at Lewis & Clark. Mentors will agree to oversee student research but do not necessarily participate in these events. There is a stipend of $4500 per student-mentor pair, of which $2000 goes to the mentor. We are planning to publish student-mentor research results in an environmental journal. Further background and application details are presented online at http: www.lclark.edu/dept/envs/mellon.html.
