Will academic support services such as tutoring be available to me during the time of non-face to face contact?
Yes, our tutors will be available to assist you online during this time.

If I am enrolled in SLS 1301 Education and Career Planning or SLS 1531Orientation for Returning Students, how will I access my assignments during this time?
All of your assignments will be placed on Blackboard.

What if I need to speak with the TRIO SSS staff during this time?
All staff will be available to respond to emails or meet online via Zoom.

Will the TRIO Academic Support Lab be open to students during this time?
No, should you need assistance, please contact a staff member via email.

Will academic support still be available during the time that the university is limiting on campus services?
Yes, tutoring will still be available during this time?

Will the summer residential program still take place?
As of now, we are still preparing for the summer residential program. Should anything change, you will be contacted by program staff.

Will there be any Saturday Academic Success Sessions?
At this time, we will not be holding Saturday Academic Success Sessions.

What should I do if I need to get in contact with program staff during this time?
All staff will be available via email.

What if I had a program interview scheduled during this time?
We will either reschedule your interview for a later date or we will conduct your interview.

TRIO Educational Talent Search

Which schools do we serve?
The Florida A&M University TRIO Talent Search Program currently serves the following schools:

Havana Magnet Elementary School
Shanks Middle School
West Gadsden Middle School
Gadsden County High School
Jefferson County K-12 at Somerset
James S. Rickards High School
Fairview Middle School
R. Frank Nims Middle School

Will services still be provided?
Services will still be provided to our current participants through electronic communication. The staff will be in contact with participants through phone calls, emails, and video web-conferencing.
We will also continue to utilize our online tutoring, mentoring, and college application programs.
As of Tuesday, March 10, 2020, the staff will not travel to the schools for the weekly/daily updates. All travel has been suspended through the university until further notice.

Will I still be able to submit an application to participate in the TRIO EOC program during the period that students are restricted from campus?
Yes. All documentation can be submitted via email to A staff member will input your information into our database for future services.

Am I allowed to utilized the TRIO Learning Center or come into the center for assistance during the two weeks or more that classes will be online?

Will an advisor be able to meet with me to provide assistance with completing the FAFSA or college application during the two weeks or more that classes are online?
Until further notice all face-to-face assistance will be halted. You can still reach an advisor for phone or face-time assistance. Here is the contact info:

Will I be able to obtain a GED test voucher during the period that campus access is restricted?
The distribution of GED vouchers is completely electronic so you would still need to go through your school contact to obtain a voucher for the GED test

Will the current status of COVID-19 impact the processing of any college applications or the FAFSA?
Most colleges and universities have been making plans to move toward an online instruction process. Some departments, such as Admissions,  at colleges and universities have the capability to process information electronically. At FAMU, department staff will be working on campus while the campus is restricted. FAFSA processing is done at the federal level, but we don’t anticipate delays.
