The Property Management Unit is responsible for safeguarding University owned assets in accordance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board statements, and Federal, State regulations. This includes tagging, transfers, inventory, disposition, sale, write-offs, and maintaining physical inventory of all University property.

Property Records Forms
    The University Records Management department is responsible for assisting departments with complying with University, state and federal records regulations. These records include legal, administrative, financial and student records, which are considered for retention, disposition, storage and archival purposes. The Records Management Liaison Officer (RMLO) is responsible for administering the Records Management Program for the University.

    In an effort to achieve compliance, each department has the responsibility for safeguarding public records that are entrusted in their care. The department records designee is responsible for managing and controlling records through their life cycle, from their creation to their final disposition or permanent retention.

    The University Surplus Property department is responsible for the receipt, transfer and disposal of University Surplus Property. Surplus assets are made available to the departments at no cost, on a first come, first serve basis. The warehouse is open to the departments from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Friday. 
    The Surplus property section conducts quarterly surplus sales. These items include computers, scientific equipment, furniture, electronics and vehicles.  Surplus property sales are conducted at the FAMU Surplus Warehouse located at 2380 Wahnish Way, Tallahassee, FL 32307.

    Pickup of Surplus Property:

     After the completion of the appropriate forms, a tacking number is assigned and forwarded to the Moving and Setup department who will arrange the time/pickup.  There are no fees or charges assessed for this service with the exception of departments who are considered as an auxiliary.
