DIVISION of CONTINUING EDUCATION HORIZONS FASHION DESIGN INSTITUTE In an effort to cultivate interest and diversify the type of academic and creative training within the Visual Arts area, we are offering a Fashion Design Institute (non-credit) starting this summer for participants 18 .
The instructor for the HORIZONS Fashion Design Institute will be Mrs. Harmony Rutland. Born and raised in Orlando FL, Harmony Rutland, an up and rising fashion designer, represents the product of a musically inclined father and an artistic and fashionable mother. The merger of these two creative forces now define this new designer’s aesthetic philosophy, which is to compose beautiful garments, thus her label’s name, A Beautiful Piece by Harmony. Much of Harmony’s background in the field involved formal training while in attendance at Florida State University from 2006 to 2009. It was in the College of Human Sciences where she would learn the various elements of design, pattern-making, fashion illustration, textiles and garment construction. Her line celebrates multiculturalism through fabrics, prints and symbolism within each design.
