I am Christy L. Chatmon, an Instructor in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences. I am currently working on my Ph.D. in Computer Science at Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL. I received my M.S. degree in Software Engineering from Florida A&M University, Tallahassee, FL in the summer of 2000. In 1994, I obtained my B.S degree at the University of Georgia, Athens, GA.  In 1998, I became a recipient of the CREST fellowship and obtained a Research Assistantship in the Department of Computer and Information Science at Florida A&M University. As a Research Assistant, our focus was in developing software engineering methodologies for architectural representation and design of distributed real-time systems. This research sought to integrate Unified Modeling Language (UML) and Real-time Architectural Specification (RAS), which was developed at Florida International University (FIU), producing a CASE Tool (UML ) used to aid the design and maintenance of software. This research effort was under the umbrella of FAMU/FIU Center for Distributed Computing. My research interests include those areas exploring software engineering methodologies. I have been fortunate to teach several courses in the area of theory of computer science, fundamentals of programming (laboratory), and software engineering methodologies. I have also served on a variety of departmental level committees.

Ms. Chatmon's current research interests include:

  • Information Assurance Education
  • U-Learning
  • Active/Studio-Based Learning
  • Computer Security
